Join the Odyssey Mentoring Program on Thursday, December 9 at 7:00 PM ET in McBain Residence Hall lounge to hear from Wally Suphap CC’01, LAW’04, SOA’23. Wally is a lawyer, writer, editor, and advocate. He received his B.A. in economics and political science from Columbia College, and his J.D., with a specialization in international and comparative law, from Columbia Law School. After a fifteen year career as an international corporate lawyer in New York, Bangkok, Tokyo, and Hong Kong, Wally returned to Columbia in 2020 to pursue his long-time passion in creative writing and literature, and is currently pursuing an MFA in Nonfiction Writing at Columbia University’s School of the Arts.

As a queer of color, Wally is a passionate advocate for diversity, inclusion, and representation; he was named a Top 10 Diversity Consultant on the 2020 Global Diversity List and a Top 50 OUTstanding LGBT+ Future Leader by INvolve in 2018 and 2019. Wally has held several non-profit board and executive committee positions, including at the Hong Kong LGBTQ Attorneys Network, APIA Scholars, and the Columbia Pride Network, through which he supports, among other programs, higher education initiatives offering scholarships and opportunities to students from diverse backgrounds.
